The time-honored trend toward giving pranks to your friends and neighbors is one that, though forbidden to me, I participated in as a teenager. The consequences for such things in my house growing up were severe, but I participated nonetheless. Growing up in a small Midwest town, we were often faced with lots of time, and little to keep us occupied. On one such night, my friend Pam and I were 'cruising' around, one thing lead to another, and we suddenly had about 40 "For Sale" signs in the back of my mother's station wagon. Now, stealing is obviously illegal, but at the time, I did not see the harm in taking someone's For Sale sign out of their front yard, and I believe we had every agency represented. We proceeded to put them all in the front yard of our unsuspecting friend Georgia's house. We were quite taken with our work! As was someone else, for we woke the next morning to see that our handy work had made the front page of the local paper, clearly searching for newsworthy pictures...Long story short, we got caught. Punishment was swift and as creative as the work that landed me in trouble in the first place. This piece simply honors all those pranks and pranksters out there.

"pranks" was stitched on 32 count hand dyed Jobelan linen in Bittersweet Lite from Wichelt Imports, Inc., with two strands over two threads, using threads from Weeks Dye Works.
