self portrait

monsterbubbles was a dream, literally. Once upon a time, I was working 50 Ga-Zillion hours a week in the mall. When I wasn't workin' for "the man," I spent every other waking hour I had stitching for excitement and recreation. I went to sleep at night and I began to dream in cross stitch: A dream world of sayings, xxxx's, linen, and color! I consulted the Dream Dictionaries for an answer to the question of my dream, and in one book it said "if you stitch it, they will come."

So: I quit my job, married my sugar daddy, and moved to an old house in California where my dreams could materialize in linen and silk. With creative input from my Sister Sarah and our Momma Marsha, monsterbubbles was born!

monsterbubbles, the name, comes from a Polydactyl Silver Tabby kitten, found in an Illinois blizzard, who graced us with his presence for 19 years, and who was beloved by family and friends. It was also the title of a favorite children's book that inspired my first "real" art project.

At monsterbubbles we are inspired by quotations we find in lyrics, literature, poetry, movies, truck stops & greasy spoons. Inspirations for our designs also come from messages for the masses found carved in benches and trees & written on bathroom walls all over our country.

There is a connection, we believe, between Art & Inspiration, and Needlework is a fabulous way to express that. We encourage Creativity! Make it yours by using different colors and fabrics. Let monsterbubbles inspire you! Enjoy your Adventure.

Supplies

Timmy and Smyles

www.stitching.org - this link is for the needlework cash and carry trade shows that only trade can attend. However just before each market there is a page with links to all the designers attending web sites. Fun to browse.

www.TNNA.org - The National Needle Arts Association. Updates frequently.

www.hoffmandis.com - There is great page updated monthly for new designs here. Also a great way to find a local shop.

www.nordencrafts.com - updated daily, this is also a great site to see what is new!

www.wichelt.com - Another distributor site. They have charts lots of fabric and stuff. They also are the sole distributor of Mill Hill Beads.

www.trailcreekfarm.com - Great designer, but I use many of her pillow to finish my designs.

www.justanotherbuttoncompany.com - Besides being local girls, they are the only ones in the industry doing what they do...and doing it well! Check them out. I use many of their buttons in my designs.

www.caron-net.com - An amazing array of threads. I use lots of the Watercolours when stitching on screen.

www.thethreadgatherer.com - Wonderful threads. truly...I have also been making jewelry with her silk??ibbon. It is very girly lookin?

www.weeksdyeworks.com - updated daily, this is also a great site to see what is new!

www.thegentleart.com - Similar to Weeks, these guys have a vast selection of colors in 6 strand cotton threads. Can you tell I am a thread and fiber addict?

www.thepurepalette.com - Really cool threads I just picked up and have been messing with. They are soy based, formaldehyde free threads meant to be used for 24 count and larger fabric. Great colors you should for sure check them out. I think they have been around for awhile just used in Needlepoint.

www.kreinik.com - They have some of the bests metallic threads out there in my opinion. Also glow in the dark and iron on threads which are fun and have LOTS of possibilities.

www.eastsidemouldins.com - Frames. Good colors, lots of different styles that compliment a wide variety of designs. Look for monsterbubbles to be using these frames going forward.

www.hillcreekdesigns.com - hand dyed buttons that are bright and fun that can be used in a ga-zillion ways. I have been messing with them to embellish designs as well as using them in jewelry making. Again, sky's the limit!

Other Cool Stuff

www.lexiebarnes.com - really hip bags, and a really hip chick besides. I got more than a few of her bags, tons of compliments already, and they are completely useful as well as sturdy!

www.namasteneedles.com - these gals do glass knitting needles, which are basically useless to me, but I like to look at em? But they also have useful bags to store your stash in.

www.subversivecrossstitch.com - not for the faint of heart. She has a nice way of poking fun at the cross stitch industry especially the designs of the 80?.

www.shakespearespeddler.com - great online shop, informative and updated frequently. Plus Theresa the owner, is one of designers for ?aise the Roof Designs?/p>

www.stitchesnthings.com - also a good online shop. This is one of the shops I refer Stitchers too when they are looking for monsterbubbles stash.

www.gitamaria.com - since I have become such a jewelry and bead addict as of late, this woman makes enameled findings that are right up my alley. I will probably start putting my jewelry on my web site soon.

www.chromedomestudios.com - fun illustrations. sick/smart sense of humor . One of many talented people in my family. He is my brother in law and I suspect Grandpa Sex Machine is his alter ego. Charlie is my webmaster too...so if you have any problems with this site, talk to him!

www.rontalk.com - The work and world of Ryan...our friend. A must see. His blog is a crack up too....if ya like that sort of thing.

www.sublimestitching.com - Embroidery for the HIP! Roller Derby patterns! Who would have thought?
